Effective

I first started using another brand of 2% Minoxidil in mid November, 2014, prescibed by my skin specialist as I seeked medical advice due to my unusual hairloss, not due to dandruff. Then my scalp became very itchy and dandruff resulted. My doctor then prescribed some special pink shampoo that comes in a small bottle, costly to me. I believe any good and trusted anti-dandruff shampoo should also work. In Feb 2015, I changed to this brand (Foligain) as the price for quantity purchase is attractive and my doctor said fine. I found this product effective for hair growth even when I reduced (in June 2015) to using the product only once a day and only on alternate days as my scalp becomes very itchy similar to the time I used the earlier brand prescibed by my doctor. I experienced fine but observable hairgrowth on the sides of my face near and on the upper lip. That really alarmed me. Fortunately, I was able to remove the facial hairs using Nair Hair Removal Cream (for Face & Body) for sensitive skin in May 2015 and never have to use the hair removal cream again as of today. Meanwhile, I must always remember to wash my hands thoroughly after application or when I massaged my scalp due to itchiness, careful not to touch my face. I acknowledge the fact that if treatment is stopped, the usual hairloss will ensue. So I'm still happily using it and happy with the results of hair on my head.

Don't expect overnight miracles but this does work...

I am writing this in October, having now used this exact product since late July. If it helps anyone - my background is that I'm over 40, had thinning hair (partially genetic but also hadn't recovered from a stressful period of time some years ago). For a few years I found that taking Vitamin D/K3 supplementation helped, as did iron, but only went so far to promote regrowth. It wasn't catastrophically thin, but thin enough that I used keratin dusts/tricks to keep it looking better than it really was.My mother (mid-70s) had suggested I try this as she had good results in her later years. I was - in all honesty - skeptical about any of this stuff but thought it was worth a shot. I was also a bit afraid of the 2-week initial shedding but it wasn't *that* bad, in all honesty, and it was soon after that period that I saw a decrease in, for instance, hair loss in showering/loose hair when brushing etc. I have been pretty diligent about applying 2x per day, though occasionally would be 1x - and it hasn't been an issue, I just don't skip that often. There is no question my hair is better now - not like 100% recovered - but there's visible improvement - less shedding than before I started, more new growth and over time, it's continued to get better - I was able to modify my hairstyle, my hairdresser notices it, the new growth area is evident and has even brought forward my hairline somewhat. I have not had any issues with unwanted hair growth. The only cons I can give this is that the liquid-dropper form, while far cheaper than foam, can be messy - do your best to keep it off the hair shaft as it can dry with a bit of a texture change (styling doesn't work as well), and it can occasionally make your scalp itch - not enough to make me not want to use it! It's worth it. In addition, I have seen perhaps slightly more improvement at the front, than at the crown, but there has been some at least everywhere I've applied it, no question. In any case, you must be patient - this works in part by extending the life of each hair - so it takes time for that to cumulatively build up + the new growth to make an impact. in short - if you don't give this at least 4-5 months, it's not going to be fully apparent just how much, or little, it will help you. But this is a good price for minoxidil and it's worth trying for a long enough period to be sure! Hope this helps someone.
